POSITION TITLE:  Quality Technician 

DEPARTMENT:  Engineering

LOCATION:  Winterset, Iowa 


PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Quality Technician is responsible for providing hands-on quality support for all quality-related issues and assures excellence in product quality throughout the manufacturing process.  Ensures quality products are produced within safety standards as well as meet all regulatory and compliance guidelines.

FOCUS:

  • Reduce or eliminate waste resulting from non-conformance, rework, scrap, or inefficiencies.
  • Helps implement the quality system.
  • Inspects products and materials from manufacturing to shipping to ensure quality is upheld in all areas. 
  • Works with manufacturing team to implement quality programs and processes.
  • Collects & interprets appropriate data to help drive change.
  • Ensures proper investigation occurs for all quality deviations.  
  • Calibrates all proper quality equipment.
  • Reviews and follows up on defective products until issues are resolved.
  • Hands-on quality support and guidance to all levels of staff.
  • Recommends action items to efficiently resolve product deviations and ensures implementation of preventative measures.  
  • Shares knowledge with all team members to achieve desired deliverables expected from our customers and business partners. 
  • Tracks, enters, monitors, and receives information from customer scorecards and other outlets. 
  • Fosters and promotes the desired culture of One Team regardless of position or shift.  
  • Leads by example when displaying core values – honesty, integrity, work ethic and respect for others.  
  • Creates and delivers training curriculum to employees.  
  • Works closely with the production trainer to ensure that quality processes are written into SOPs.  

SKILLS / ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years’ experience working with quality system, or similar experience. 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ manufacturing experience. 
  • Proficient in MS Office and other applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to interact with production employees and cross-departmentally.  
  • Strong logical thinking, leadership skills, and adaptability.
  • Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and change management.
  • Experience in participating and preparing for quality audits. 

EDUCATION:

  • Quality training preferred.
  • Technical trades schooling or engineering background preferred.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to work inside a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to changing temperatures (hot, cold, humid), moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noises. The noise level in the work environment can be loud; vibration levels are moderate.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. periodically.     
  • Nearly all production/manufacturing cells require active bending, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion on a regular basis.

Position Title: Manufacturing Technician

Department: Production

Location: Winterset, IA

Status: Full-Time Position

Shifts: 1st and 2nd Shift Positions Available 

1st shift:  Monday-Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. **OT as required to meet business needs.  

2nd shift:  Monday-Thursday 3:45 p.m. to 2:15 a.m. **OT as required to meet business needs. 

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Manufacturing Technician will apply various machining and/or weld technologies and skills to ensure quality & timely completion of work orders.   Grip-Tite will train the right people with sound virtues regardless of prior machining / welding experience.

FOCUS:

· Operates various machinery (mix of new and old) used to produce Grip-Tite parts and products.  

· Works in a variety of manufacturing cells that utilize saws, drills, welders, plasma cutters, punches, etc.

· May be trained on stamping presses or laser operations.  

· May operate a forklift as needed.

· Maintains equipment and work areas.  Keeps area clean and free of safety hazards.   

· Must be able to fill out required paperwork completely and accurately.     

· Must have a positive attitude and ensure and holds oneself accountable to work as one team to ensure Grip-Tite’s overall success.  

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

· Manufacturing/Industrial environment exposure preferred.

· High school diploma or equivalent or at least 1-year experience.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety procedures, SOPs, and other instruction manuals.  

· Take the initiative to keep all areas clean and safe.

· Follow applicable housekeeping and safety procedures.

· Ability to lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds each, with assistance if needed, at heights from floor level to 4 feet high.

· Provides assistance to others in moving heavier or bulky objects.

· Must wear personal protective equipment – ear plugs, steel toe shoes and protective glasses.

· Maintains a high level of accuracy in all aspects of work assignments.

· Must have a valid driver’s license to operate in cells where forklift work is required.  

EDUCATION:

· High School Diploma

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching all day with the ability to be mobile throughout required work areas. The employee may frequently lift and/or move items up to 75 lbs.

POSITION:  SHIPPING AND RECEIVING ASSOCIATE (1ST SHIFT) 

DEPARTMENT:  SUPPLY CHAIN 

REPORTS TO: SHIPPING COORDINATOR

LOCATION: WINTERSET, IOWA 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Shipping & Receiving Associate is an essential role within the organization to assist, facilitate, and control the inbound and outbound product movement throughout the organization. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for picking, packing, and shipping of all inbound and outbound shipments along with the duties associated with shipment preparation. Will be responsible for bills of lading, coordinating associated paperwork, collecting necessary documentation, and ensuring shipments are complete and on-time.

FOCUS:

  • Conduct proper packaging, weighing, and labeling of all customer orders. Ensures orders are pulled and staged in a timely manner.
  • Maintains customer service mindset, including but not limited to, verifying that orders are correctly picked and ready to ship by the order ship date. Checks with the Shipping Coordinator or other members of the Supply Chain Team with any questions regarding shipment priorities.
  • Acts as the last quality check for outbound product. Checks with the Quality Technician if there are any quality concerns.
  • Receive incoming material and parts. Provide the shipping coordinator with packing slips as applicable.
  • Load and unload trucks in a timely manner.
  • Work with the shipping coordinator to maintain proper inventory levels for shipping area items (hardware, cartons, etc.).
  • Assist with cycle counting.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including keeping track of outbound orders.
  • Operate forklift, material handling equipment, and tools safely.
  • Organize shipping documentation and request pick-ups.
  • Must be willing to take initiative and be accountable for shipping and receiving functions. Assess workload and ask for help as needed to support timely shipment of customer orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Support and backfill for the Material Handler as required.


CRITICAL SKILLS, KNOWELDGE & ABILITIES:

  • One year of previous experience in shipping and receiving required.
  • One year of forklift operation desired. Forklift certification preferred.  Must possess valid driver’s license in good standing.  
  • Experience loading and unloading trucks preferred.
  • Manufacturing/Industrial environment exposure preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Take the initiative to keep all areas clean and safe
