At Grip-Tite Manufacturing, we’re always looking for ways to make foundation repair installations more efficient and professional. When it comes to preparing for wall anchor installation, a few small steps can make a big difference — especially when it comes to layout and precision.
“When we first started doing anchors, we would use a lumber crayon to mark our spacings for our anchors,” Corey recalled. “That’s great unless you have to move your anchors. You end up looking like the 5-year-old kid that colored in the basement. That’s not good.”
Instead, Corey recommends a cleaner and more flexible solution: painter’s tape.
“Duct tape works, but if you have a wall that’s been affected by water, you can peel the paint off when you take the tape off,” he explained. “So, we use painter’s tape. It comes off easy, lets you lay out your anchor spacings, look at your obstacles, and if you have to move any anchors, it’s just a matter of moving your tape.”
Beyond aesthetics, good preparation prevents costly mistakes. Taking the time to check both the interior and exterior for obstacles before drilling ensures a smoother installation and a more professional outcome.
“It’s super important that you spend the time both inside and outside looking for those obstacles before you start the installation of your anchors,” Corey emphasized.
With simple tools and careful planning, Grip-Tite installers can achieve cleaner, faster, and more precise results — every time.
