Watching For Wall Anchor Obstacles

Planning for Outdoor Obstacles During Anchor Installation

Corey Explains How Preparation Ensures Safe and Effective Wall Anchor Installations

At Grip-Tite Manufacturing, careful planning is key to a smooth and successful wall anchor installation. Understanding the landscape and potential obstacles before you start can save time, prevent damage, and ensure long-lasting results.

“It’s important to make sure that you’ve looked for obstacles, not only inside, but outside — obstacles like trees, sidewalks, or a flower bed with a foundation,” Corey said. “Having those things in mind before you start running rods or drilling holes in the wall is super important.”

Corey also highlights the importance of evaluating ground level to determine the proper placement for anchors.

“You want to look at the soil and plan to place your anchors about 2 to 2 1/2 feet below ground level,” he explained. “Then you run the anchor rod out at an angle downward.”

The angled placement serves two purposes: it reaches deep, stable soil and prevents water from following the rod back to the house.

“The idea of angling down is so that it’s diving into deep virgin soil, and also so water can’t follow the rod back to the house. You can do an amazing job to stabilize the wall, but if the anchors leak, we didn’t win,” Corey emphasized.

By assessing obstacles, planning anchor placement, and taking safety seriously, Grip-Tite installers can deliver reliable results while protecting both the property and the customer’s investment.

“Just remember, as you’re laying those out, take into consideration all the things that could be a hindrance. We want you to install these safely and give the customer what they’re looking for,” Corey concluded.
